Bolanle Olukanni came into our lives in 2013 when she was introduced as the new co host of “Moments with Mo”, a show exclusively produced and shown on Ebonylife Tv, Nigeria’s first female owned Entertainment Tv and “Africa’s first Global Black Multi-Broadcast Entertainment Network” owned by Mosunmola Abudu, a prolific media veteran.

Although we had watched Bolanle as Ebonylife Tv showed highlights of the audition process showcasing  her and other hopefuls audition with the determination to clinch the most coveted seat, We were formally introduced to her in July, when new episodes of “Moments with Mo” were shown  on Ebonylife TV and we got to see how she gracefully navigated her way through the first and second season of the show. She has gone on to build an incredibly successful career in broadcasting with “Moments with Mo” changing to  “Moments” and Mo Abudu leaving and putting Toke Makinwa as her replacement and eventually Michelle Dede coming in and giving the show a young, upscale and hippy vibe. She has also gone on to host her own red carpet show where she interviews celebs, actors and well known personalities asking them questions and getting them to say things you have never heard anywhere.

She was selected in 2014 as the new co host of the MTN sponsored musical show Project Fame and has been muses for several fashion designers like Iconola and is a stylist’s delight as she has rocked so many beautiful pieces from so many designers.

A little back story about Bolanle Olukanni Aka Bolinto (Gosh, don’t you just love her Instagram handle).

Bolanle is a real cosmopolitan chic and a globetrotter as she was raised in Nigeria, Kenya, Israel and America. I know right, she has being around the world ay ay. Yes we concur, but she did have her primary education in Nigeria, she attended St. Saviours Primary School in Lagos and went on to Queens College Lagos for her secondary education.

Bolanle moved to Nairobi and attended Rosslyn Academy in Nairobi, Kenya for part of her high school and moved to America for her senior year in Wichita Southeast High School in Wichita, Kansas, where she participated in the National Speech and Debate Tournament for Dramatic Interpretation .

Her father Diplomat Ayo Olukunrin, a career diplomat who has served in Brussels, New York (Permanent Mission to the United Nations), Tel Aviv, Nairobi and Vienna, was definitely the reason for her schooling in so many countries as he has had 32 years experience of representing Nigeria as a diplomat in these numerous countries. We are sure Bolanle and her siblings must have enjoyed every bit of these experiences and has helped mould her into the woman she is today.

Bolanle Olukanni received a Bachelor’s degree from Loyola University, Chicago, with a double degree – Bachelors of Arts in both Communications and International studies. She worked for a while in the US before coming back to Nigeria for her National Youth service . She served in Ekiti state and here she spent the year working for a non-profit organization. While serving her fatherland, Bolanle and a fellow corps member started ‘Girls For The Future’ – a gender based empowerment workshop for secondary school students, aimed at teaching the girl child of their rights and providing mentorship for the students.

Bolanle has shown that you can achieve your dreams if only you believe and work towards achieving them. Bolanle is also a writer as she started a blog while she was still in the University. The blog was called “International Students – A Guide to Life in America” and was aimed at “giving advice to the International Student in America.” She has also done a little acting in the US becoming a National Qualifier for Competitive Monologue Acting in America, a study in the power of the human voice through social action inspired monologues. In May 2010, while still in school, she won the Loyola University Chicago Kale Williams Award for Exceptional Work in Promoting Human Rights and Social Justice.

We love Bolanle as she has shown us  that we can do just about anything if we set our more minds to it. We at DressesByAloli are in love with Bolinto’s fashion choices, so we searched the archives for you and compiled 10 of our favourite moments Bolinto slayed and showed us she is worthy to be our first style star. Enjoy!
